HED to start a third shift in Public Colleges after 4 pm across Punjab

In order to accommodate the growing strength of students across public sector colleges, the Higher Education Department (HED) has decided to start a third shift in government colleges.

Speaking on the matter, the Director of Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges Punjab, Dr. Ashiq Hussain revealed that the reason behind this initiative is to provide academic facilities to students.

The third shift will start after 4pm in government colleges. The number of shifts has increased in the single-shift government colleges too across Punjab, including Lahore.

New shift to accommodate students

The third shift will allow HED Punjab to increase enrollment in colleges across the province to 1.5 million. During the current academic year, 1.1 million students have taken admissions to colleges so far.

”With the third shift, the target of admissions into colleges has also been increased from 1.1 million to 1.5 million,” he said.

Examination result

Aside from that, the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) is contemplating announcing the result of the matric examinations next month.

The PBCC is discussing announcing the result on 31st August. However, the final decision will be made with the consultation of the IBCC.
