Here are the three countries that recognized Pakistan on the same date it was founded

All three countries are Muslim nations.

During these turbulent times, three Muslim countries came forward and took the bold step of recognizing the young South Asian country on the same date it gained its independence.

Here are those three countries:

Iran

Iran was the first nation to recognize Pakistan on the 14th of August, 1947.

Moreover, the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was the first head of any country to come on an official visit to Pakistan in March 1950.

During his visit to the South Asian country, Shah signed the Treaty of Friendship, along with the Pakistani Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, to lay down the basis of cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the new regime in Iran after the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Turkey

Turkey was was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan on the 14th of August, 1947.

Even before the establishment of Pakistan, the founder of the nation, Quid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, had expressed his great admiration for the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Turkey has for decades supported Pakistan’s stance on the illegal Indian occupation of Jammu & Kashmir.

Both the republics enjoy friendly relations, regularly termed as Kardeşler (“brothers” in Turkish).

Recently, Turkey and Pakistan, along with Azerbaijan, signed the Baku Declaration to strengthen parliamentary dialogue, cooperation, and overall ties.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan on the 14th of August, 1947.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a Treaty of Friendship in 1951, laying the basis for cooperation and ever-lasting friendship.

Saudi Arabia has supported Pakistan in all of its wars against India, especially in 1971.

Throughout decades and changing times, Pakistan has often been dubbed as “Saudi Arabia’s closest Muslim ally.
