Deepika’s new movie Padmavati has been under criticism ever since the making started and viewers were able to grab a little sneak peak about what was going on. Padmavati is a story of Rani Padmini, whom history knows through a famous poem Padmavat. However, Padmavat, that forms the basis of this storyline is believed to be hypothetical, with little to no reality in it.
Sanjay Leela has already been attacked multiple times as Hindus believe he is molding the history in the name of freedom of expression and creativity. The people are immensely triggered and infuriated over the movie and the crew as they think it threatens the actual course of history due to lack of authenticity in it.
The situation has kept worsening and recently people threatening to kill Deepika, arrest or prosecute her reflects the severity of the matter.
From protests led on streets to heated speeches, people are doing everything it takes to stop the movie from gracing cinema halls. Not just these, the social media community has taken over Twitter as well condemning it and demanding severe actions against the makers.
Here is what people have to say:
Rani Padmavati saved her honour from Barbarians, now need to Protect her memory & Image from Dubai Funded Bollywood.

Yes sir we need to protect our culture and real history from the ignorant and uncultured bigots.

Freedom of Expression doesn't mean to dilute history and respected characters of history . JAI PADMAVATI #BanPadmavatiMovie

You make a movie with historical, revered and hated characters, play around with the truth and call it a work of fiction. #Padmavati. That's hypocritical.

#DeepikaThreatened we support Karni Sena. Padmavati should be banned and Deepika Bhansali should be arrested and prosecuted.

However, few people are against these extremist remarks saying that it is unfair to reject the movie before even watching it.
They stopped him with #RamLeela, they stopped him with #BajiraoMastani, now they stop him with #Padmavati. The people have shown their verdict for the first two, the latter will speak for itself. Who is with me for #PadmavatiFirstDayFirstShow ?

So many people rejecting Padmavati before even seeing it, just like how they reject most new-born girls in Rajasthan.

The protests have gained momentum and worsened as recently a dead body has been found hanging in Jaipur fort with words scribbled on the stone nearby saying ‘Padmavati ka virodh’ (meaning: in revenge of Padmavati). This has further depicted how crucial and sensitive the situation has gotten.
Previously, the movie has been opposed by Muslim groups as well due to it containing scenes of homosexual romance between Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji and his slave-general Malik Kafur.
