Here's why Ehsan Mani decided against continuing as chairman PCB.

Ehsan Mani decided against continuing as the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board for the second term and resigned from his post yesterday. Following his resignation, former captain and cricket commentator, Ramiz Raja, is all set to take the boss’ seat at the PCB headquarters in Lahore.

Raja will assume the charge of chairman PCB on September 13th. Although, it first seemed that Ehsan Mani will continue serving as the chairman PCB but he wasn’t happy with Ramiz Raja’s appointment.

According to Daily Jang, the former chairman PCB wanted full powers in his second term and was unwilling to share it with the former captain. PM Imran Khan had directed Mr. Mani to continue working as the PCB’s boss. Furthermore, Mani had also informed the prime minister about his intentions of moving to England after completing his ongoing projects.

Ehsan Mani was informed about the plans for Ramiz Raja. The member of the world cup winning team would be appointed as a member of the PCB’s BoG and later, will be made vice president. Ramiz Raja’s appointment was due to the fact that Mani will leave in an year and the post of chairman PCB cannot be left vacant.

So, when Mani is done with his ongoing projects. Ramiz Raja will be appointed the PCB’s boss without wasting any time.

Although, the former chairman PCB was in favour of the appointment of Asad Ali as member of the PCB’s BoG but he didn’t want to work with Raja. According to sources, Mani feared that someone like Ramiz Raja could create problems for him.

During his time as PCB’s boss, a number of important decision were made. This also included the removal of a long-serving employee of the country’s top cricket body, chief operating officer Subhan Ahmed.
