Here’s why PM Shehbaz Sharif isn’t removing Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman

Despite reports that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja might resign due to the change in federal government, it is likely that he will continue.

Earlier, reports suggested that chairman PCB will resign and will be replaced by another former chairman PCB. However, according to a report by Cricket Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif doesn’t want to change Ramiz Raja.

The report claimed that the chairman PCB has been advised against resigning by a ‘high-profile personality’. The incumbent government isn’t focusing on cricket at the moment and want things to move forward as they are.

The new government doesn’t want to open a new Pandora’s box, which is why Ramiz Raja is still continuing as the chairman PCB. Former PM Imran Khan during a conversation with reporters at his residence said that Raja is free to make his own decision regarding PCB chairmanship.

“Ramiz is free to make a decision regarding PCB chairmanship. He will decide his future himself,” former premier shared. “Ramiz is my player and he will compete against the opposition till last,” he said.
