Hindu Extremist ‘Cow Protection’ Group And BJP Attacked Minorities, Killed 44 People
In a shocking report released by HRW (Human Rights Watch) today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bhartiya Gau Rakshak Dal is accused of setting the trend of mob culture and attacking minorities particularly.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged India to take action against the vigilante ‘cow protection’ groups for attacking Muslims, Dalits and other minorities in the five years since the Hindu nationalist BJP came to power.
The report revealed shocking facts that between May 2015 and December 2018 at least 44 people, including 36 Muslims, have been killed in attacks over beef consumption. The HRW said that it is need of the hour that authorities take action against those involved in the attacks and also stops blaming the victims or justifying the oppressive attacks in the name of protection of religious sentiments.
“According to a survey by New Delhi Television, there was a nearly 500% increase in the use of communally divisive language in speeches by elected leaders – 90% of them from the BJP – between 2014 and 2018, as compared to the five years before the BJP came to power” – the report, released on today said.
