What is worse: Holding Dual Nationality or secretly working on Iqama?
Under ideal situations, cabinet members, politicians, and SAPM should not have dual nationalities.
Amid growing demands by the Opposition to reveal assets and nationalities of non-elected members, the federal government has issued a list of the cabinet members.
At least seven members of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Cabinet are either dual nationals or hold permanent residency in another country.
The details of their assets and nationalities have been put up on the website of the Cabinet Division. The Information Minister, Shibli Faraz, tweeted that the names of the members had been made public on the prime minister’s instruction.

The move comes in response to mounting criticism of the government and calls for declaring assets of the people close to the PM.
What is worse, Holding Dual Nationality or Secretly Working on Iqama?
Under ideal situations, cabinet members, politicians, and SAPM should not have dual nationalities. All of their estates and loyalties should be inevitably linked with the interests of Pakistan.
The members should also be banned from acquiring offshore properties or bank accounts, as this can be inferred as a conflict of interest with divided loyalties.
However, right now, we want our diaspora’s expertise in various fields, as they are highly qualified. Moreover, they are excelling in multiple areas, from the economy to IT to the medical profession. Once our economy is stabilized, we can make these requirements for Politicians, Judges, and Generals more stringent.
But for now, secretly holding Iqama and being actively employed in a foreign country is much worse than having dual citizenship.
