[PICTURES] Watch how the largest lions in Africa were transported to a new location by plane
In addition to the pilots flying the plane, a doctor traveled on the plane (inside the cabin) to monitor the animals during the travel.

A non-profit company in South Africa recently transported three Kalahari lions via air plane. These lions are known for being the largest lions in Africa.
The Purpose behind the Transport
The lions were being flown from the Khamab Kalahari Reserve to the Mabula Game Reserve, with the intent of increasing genetic diversity and reducing population sub-division across lion populations.
Details of the Transportation
Each lion weighed roughly 200kg, and the three of them weighed a total of 600kg. The lions were flown on a Pilatus PC-12 plane between the two reserves (the Khamab Kalahari Reserve and the Mabula Game Reserve).
In addition to the pilots flying the plane, a doctor traveled on the plane (inside the cabin) to monitor the animals during the travel.
Here are some pictures of the lions being loaded onto the plane:
The way the lions are being loaded on the plane seems uncomfortable. Though, with the limitations and barriers involved, it’s hard to imagine another way to transport the lions via a plane.
