How to renew your driving license online in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, acquiring and renewing your driving license has always been a tedious and redundant process. Visiting the branch, standing in line, printing various documents, and so much more – it can get very tiring. However, with the system’s conversion into an online application, the process of issuance and renewal of a driving license has gotten considerably more manageable.

The digital system, known as DLIMS – Driving License Information Management System, was created by the Pakistan Information Technology Board (PITB). The online system enables you to apply for a driving license online. Thanks to DLIMS online application, driver license issuance has spread to 36 districts across Punjab.

Step-by-step process of applying for a Driving License online in Pakistan

  1. Login to the DLIMS Website.
  2. Download the required form from the download sections.
  3. Fill the form.
  4. Attach the required documents to the form.
  5. Submit the form and documents to the nearest licensing center.
  6. Pass the initial theoretical test after a licensing period of 42 days.
  7. Take the driving test.

Step-by-step process of renewing a Driving License online in Pakistan

Note: If you want to renew your license, you don’t need to give the theoretical and driving test. You have to submit the required documents with the form to the licensing center in person. All licenses are renewed for a period of 5 years.

Required Documents:

The application form must be enclosed in a cover. You must add the following documents to the cover:

  • 2 Passport-sized Photos
  • 2 copies of your CNIC
  • Your original driving license
  • Fee ticket as mentioned in License Document
  • Medical reports
  • Ticket of the relevant license

Note: The renewal of a license does not cost anything if renewed within a month. However, if the license is renewed in a period of 1 to 3 months, a 50% fine is charged, and if the renewal takes place within 3 months to 1 year, a fine of 100% is imposed.
