Complete Guide: How to report an online fraud in Pakistan?

As per the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cybercrime Wing (CCW), online fraud cases are rising in Pakistan.

Now that the internet has taken over our lives, with the good of the web comes the bad too. Online activities have made our lives easy, but they have also made us prey to various online frauds like identity theft, data breaches, phishing and spoofing, malware, and other hacking activities.

As per the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing (CCW), online fraud cases are rising in Pakistan. It has now become crucial for you to be aware of a plan of action in case a similar incident takes place.

Here are answers to some commonly asked questions related to reporting online fraud in Pakistan:

1. What kind of Complaints can be reported?

You can report the following category of complaints to FIA’s CCW:

  • Un-Authorized Accessed (Physical Information system, Digital data, Personal Identity)
  • Email hacking
  • Fake id on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus)
  • Online Fund Transfer Fraud through a bank, ATM, Easy paisa, U-paisa, Time pay, or any other online fund transfer facility
  • Impersonation and defamation on social media ( Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus)

2. How can I submit my complaint?

There are three ways of submitting your complaint:

  • By hand submission or by post submission to relevant circle
  • Online form available on the website through
  • Email address

3. Can we submit a complaint through the helpline on a phone call?

No, complaints cannot be submitted through the helpline. You can only take guidelines about your cybercrime complaint and its further processing.

4. How can I get updates/progress of my complaint?

You can email ( or contact us on 051-9106384, 051-9106690, 051-9106691, or 1991 for any query against your complaint and update progress. Moreover, you can contact your relevant circle for your complaint status. Contact numbers of circles and addresses are provided in FAQ no. 13.

5. Can I go to the Cyber Crime Zones office directly to register my complaint?

Yes, you can go there personally with your written application and relevant material

6. How can we report any Incident which falls under cybercrimes?

  • You can visit our website and register your complaint by filling our online form.
  • You can email us at or
  • You can send a written application with your complete credentials (Name, Address, CNIC, and Contact No.) and details of your complaint to your relevant circle.

7. Can CCW trace out stolen Laptops and Mobile Phones?

Yes, CCW traces out stolen laptops, phones, or gadgets only when a laptop, phone, or any other gadget is lost due to cybercrime.

8. How much time is required to block the Fake Facebook ID?

After registering your complaint regarding the fake Facebook ID, CCW usually sends a request to the Facebook authority against the fake ID in one week. The response time then depends on facebook authority.

9. How to recover hacked WhatsApp account?

Kindly reinstall the WhatsApp application on your mobile and activate your WhatsApp account 4 to 5 times until it gets banned. After that, send your complaint to along with the following credentials.

  • Your name
  • Attach CNIC pic from the front side
  • Contact number

After 72 hours, reinstall the WhatsApp application on your mobile and try to activate your WhatsApp account.

10. How much time will it take to process or register my complaint?

  • If you physically submit your complaint, then it will be processed on the spot in your relevant circle, and a complaint number will be provided to you.
  • If you submit an online complaint, then your concerned circle will process your complaint in one week.
  • If you submit a complaint through email, this will be registered in 8-10 days by your relevant cybercrime circle.

11. How much time is required to take action on my complaint?

After complaint registration, verification will be carried out in 14 days, while an investigation officer has 90 days to finalize your complaint. So as per rules, action on your complaint will be taken during these 90 days of inquiry.
