Israeli forces have been accused of shooting a minor boy in the West Bank of Kafir Qaddum during a protest. As the sources report, 100 bullet fragments were found in the body of 10 years old Abdul Rahman Yasser Shteiwi.
According to an activist group based in Hebron, International Solidarity Campaign (ISM), doctors operated the child for three whole hours in an attempt to stop bleeding. The doctors say he sustained serious injuries on the front lobe.
“He had a penetrating injury in the frontal lobe on the right side. The injury was severe and there are more than 100 fragments,” said Head of Neurosurgery at Rafidia hospital Othman Othman.
“This is not a rubber bullet this is a metal bullet. A rubber bullet will not enter because it does not have a sharp head. This is something that had a sharp head.”
Israeli forces are acting with “super disproportionate” violence:
Speaking to an international media source while wishing to stay anonymous, a British international observer at the scene said that Israeli forces are acting with “super disproportionate” violence.
“We ran and at that point, we saw people running down the hill. We didn’t see it happen, but seeing the blood on the floor was awful. You just see people looking upset… it was really horrible to experience. We all felt guilty,” she said.
“We’re there as international observers, so we should get it on camera to show what soldiers do”.
She also visited the injured child Abdullah in hospital, holding little hope. She revealed the doctors said they could not yet stop internal bleeding as all the bullets pierced through his head.
ISM activists further revealed that they found a 5.56 bullet case on the ground where protestors had been standing, and since it was too hot to touch, it is evident it was fired the same day. The town has been witnessing weekly protests since 9 years against the closure of the main road to the city of Nablus due to the expansion of nearby settlements.
The British activists say that they are fed the same ‘Palestinian terrorists’ versus Israeli defense forces defending themselves. It’s not always the case. The people living beyond the region do not know the scale of violence.
