IDWP approves projects worth PKR 1 billion for development of rural areas

Forty-nine new projects have been approved by IDWP (Islamabad Development Working Party) with an estimated cost of PKR 1 billion related to the construction of roads as well as pavements, water supply, sewage, and sanitation for the rural areas of the country.

As per the statement released by the ICT officials yesterday, the Islamabad Development Working Party meeting was held on November 21st under the precedence of the chief commissioner Islamabad.

Amer Ali Ahmed, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, told us that 34 new projects had been approved that are worth PKR 650 million for water supply, sewage, and sanitation plans in the rural regions.

Apart from that, 15 other projects have been approved for the pavements and roads of the rural regions with an approximate cost of PKR 350 million.

Chief Commissioner Islamabad also added that they’ve decided to transmute all the functional water supply projects (around 65) in the rural areas into solar energy schemes.

He said:

“The concerned directorate has been directed to prepare a PC-I to shift the water schemes to solar energy.”

The IDWP meeting has directed to prepare a comprehensive development plan for the rural areas near the capital until the next meeting so that new development projects can be executed in accordance with it.
