Import of mobile phone surges by 63% in five months

On a year-on-year basis, the imports grew by 150.29% in November 2019.

The import of mobile phones into the country has increased during the first five months of the current year (19-20). The imports have increased by 63.62% as compared to the same period last year.

As per the information issued by PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics), mobile phones worth $498.466 million have been imported during July-November, last year this digit stood at $304.651 million.

On a year-on-year basis, the imports grew by 150.29% in November 2019. The imports were recorded at $110.725 million, while in November 2018 this digit stood at $44.238 million.
On a month-on-month basis, the imports declined during November, during October imports of $118.654 million were recorded.
