A 68-year-old temple priest named Ramesh Mathur passed away on Tuesday afternoon in India. His traumatized family needed just four shoulders to take his body to the crematorium but many Muslims men who were fasting in the holy month of Ramadan came out to be a part of the funeral procession.

Many people snapped pictures and recorded videos, which were shared widely on social media to show social harmony.

Mathur lived with his wife and a son in a Muslim dominated locality in Meerut.

Mathur’s younger son told a source, “My father had a tumor and the treatment was going on for long. However, suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, he passed away leaving us distressed. My elder brother, who was in Delhi, could not reach home on time due to the nationwide lockdown. Relatives, too, could not come due to the confinement. This is when the Muslim neighbors came out for our help and took the body for the last rites to the crematorium.

Fasting and COVID-19 fear

The councilor of the area, Mohammad Mobin, said, “In times like these, we should stand by each other against all odds and show humanity. I am happy that despite being on fast and the fear of the coronavirus, all the Muslim men stood by the devastated family when they needed them the most.”

  • These gestures are not gonna work as moodi and rss/bjp believe in hinduvta and they are extremely fundamentalist and racist. Just wake up politically!

    • We shouldn’t look at human beings based on their religion. Why do you want to compare yourself to scumbag like Modi?
