REVEALED: Is the news about Turkey tightening visa policy for Pakistanis true?

According to local media reports, the Turkish government has tightened the visa policy for Pakistanis and has stopped issuing temporary residence permits. The decision was taken after several crimes involving Pakistanis were allegedly reported in the country.

The News is Fake

The Pakistani Embassy has denied the news reports of changing Turkish visa policies for Pakistanis. The officials took to Twitter to clarify the matter and stated:

In response to various media reports, it is clarified that Turkey has not made any changes in its policy of issuing visas and residence permits specific to Pakistan nationals. The Embassy remains in close contact with the Turkish authorities on all consular-related matters.

Details of the alleged Criminal Activity

Reports stated that some Pakistani men allegedly kidnapped four Nepalis in Istanbul. The kidnapping took place in Taksim Square. The Nepalis were walking in the area when they were allegedly abducted at gunpoint and later shifted to a house. When taken to the house, the kidnapped people were tortured, and their videos were made. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 10,000 euros for their release.

However, the ransom plan failed when the Turkish police received a tip-off and subsequently raided the house. Six people were arrested at the location. Knives and pistols were also found in possession of the accused; everything was taken into custody.

In another incident, several young Pakistani men took to the streets to protest the end of Imran Khan’s government in Istanbul. All types of protest activity are banned in Turkeyand anyone doing so is subjected to strict punishment. Therefore, police arrested the Pakistani protesters.
