The so-called biggest democracy in the instant neighbor of Pakistan was not thinking having done enough with the onslaught of Muslims by the instigation of mob violence against them and by imposing stringent socio-economic curbs on Kashmir based Muslim majority and is all up for another wave of violence against its reasonable section of the population at the hands of fascist Hindus.

Although religion is not officially the part of India still blatant persecution of minorities there exposing the truly dying secularism especially under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. The constitution of India claims to respect all religions, enforce parliamentary laws instead of religious ones, and its institutions accept all religion but under the prevailing circumstances, all these assertions seem not more than castles in the air.

Mcdonald’s – the global food outlet is faced with boycott calls in India from right-wing Hindus the only mistake that the global fast-food chain committed was its response to a query: ” Is McDonald’s in India halal certified?”

“Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald’s India. We truly appreciate this opportunity to respond to your comments. The meat that we use, across our restaurants, is of the highest quality and is sourced from government-approved suppliers who are HACCP certified. All our restaurants have HALAL certificates. You can ask the respective restaurant Managers to show you the certificate for your satisfaction and confirmation,” said McDonald’s India in its reply.

Next was just the start of controversy against the fast-food outlet to comply with the terms of Muslim sect while slaughtering the animals. Twitter users called it the blatant and intentional assault on Hindu beliefs and blamed McDonald’s to appease only 14 percent Muslims population of India.

National President of a right-wing Hindu group Vishnu Gupta has said that McDonald’s was ignoring the sensitivities of Hindus. McDonald’s can’t force Halal meat upon a vast section of Hindus who eat jhatka.

Vishnu Gupta also issued a warning statement saying that if McDonald’s doesn’t change its policy and start serving both halal and jhatka in its outlets across India then soon our men will protest against the food chain on streets.

Shabnam Hashmi who is an activist based in New Delhi said in her response to Aljazeera: “It is an absolutely Islamophobic atmosphere which is existing in India now and each and every occasion is used by right-wing Hindus to attack Muslims.” It is the extreme right asserting themselves to convert India into a Hindu nation, she added.

Hindus’ bigotry against the Muslims isn’t new, nor their policies to renounce the religious rights of Muslims but recent incidents of communal violence and fascists’ outcry against them further instill the Muslims’ hatred within the pseudo-secular state – The Republic of India.
