Indian couple welcomes twins – names the children COVID and Corona
The mother says she and her husband Vinay embraced the names after hospital staff started using them for the children.
An Indian couple has named their newborn babies COVID and Corona to put a positive spin on the deadly pandemic that is sweeping the globe.
According to media reports, the twins were born on March the 27th at B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur, India.
The Mother Preeti Verma told a source, “I was blessed with the twins -a boy and a girl in the early hours on March 27th. We have named them Corona and COVID for now.”
Verma further said, “It was a tense journey as my husband, and I passed through several checkpoints under India’s coronavirus lockdown measures before midnight on March 26th.”
Preeti, 27, says she and her husband Vinay embraced the names after hospital staff started using them for the children.
“The delivery happened after facing various difficulties, and therefore, my husband and I wanted to make the day memorable. We finally decided to name the twins after the pandemic, said the mother.
Preeti and Vinay named the boy COVID, and the girl Corona, both mother and babies are doing fine.
