Indian Film Producer To Make A Film On PM Khan’s Favorite Book

The Prime Minister, Imran Khan was spotted reading The Anarchy by William Dalrymple, on his return to Pakistan from the United Nations General Assembly. Now, that book is being made into a film.

According to a report in Variety Magazine, a Hollywood publication, the Indian film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur best known for his blockbusters like Dangal, The Sky is Pink, Khoobsurat, and Kai Po Che has acquired the rights of the book. The book’s complete title is ‘The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company.’

The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company is a 2019 history book by William Dalrymple. It recounts the rise of the East India Company in the second half of the 18th century, in the backdrop of a crumbling Mughal empire and the rise of regional powers.

Much of the details are still not disclosed, but reportedly, Siddharth plans to gather an international team of writers and showrunners for a big-budget, grand-scale series adaptation of the book.

The author of the book, Dalrymple, is working alongside the team as a consultant for the project. He shared: “I’m very excited looking at the initial treatment note, talking about the various ways to bring this book alive and to bring the characters I’ve been living with over the last six years onto the screen, so that everyone else can see them in flesh and blood.”

Not just PM Khan but former US President Barack Obama also recommended The Anarchy and listed the book among his top 10 recommended books of 2019.
