Caught With Pants Down: EU Exposes Indian Fifth Generation Warfare Network Against Pakistan
The Disinfo Lab revealed all their findings in a report titled the “Indian Chronicles”.
Recently, the EU Disinfo Lab, an NGO focused on researching and tackling sophisticated disinformation campaigns, exposed a vast global campaign running for the past 15 years to discredit Pakistan internationally. The NGO identified that a massive Indian network of 750 fake media outlets based in 116 countries were behind this global campaign.
The Disinfo Lab revealed all their findings in a report titled the “Indian Chronicles”. It should be noted that the Indian Chronicles report further builds on the EU Disinfo Lab report released last year. The previous report had exposed a network of 265 coordinated fake local Indian media outlets tasked with spreading misinformation against Pakistan and Muslims around the world.
This year’s report stated:
The anti-Pakistan media operation was launched by Srivastava Group in 2005 and has been amplified by ANI (Asian News International) in recent years.
The Indian Chronicles further highlighted:
Since 2005, to serve Indian interests, Srivastava Group’s campaign had resurrected dead people, media, and NGOs, established fake media outlets and planted fake journalists in Brussels and Geneva, stolen identities of important EU and UN organizations by impersonating them, and established hundreds of NGOs including ten accredited to UN Human Rights Council.
What did the Srivastava Group’s campaign do?
According to the report, the identity of the Commission to Study the Organization of Peace (CSOP), a US-based NGO accredited to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that had become inactive in the late 1970s, was stolen by the Srivastava Group and was resurrected in 2005.
Srivastava Group stole the identity of CSOP’s former Chairman and grandfather of international law in the US, Louis Sohn.As a result of the stolen identity, CSOP’s former Chairman and grandfather of international law in the US, Louis Sohn, who passed away in 2006, seemingly attended a UN Human Rights Council meeting in 2007 and participated in an event organized by “Friends of Gilgit-Baltistan” in Washington D.C. in 2011.
Alongside stealing existing NGOs’ identities, the Srivastava family surreptitiously created hundreds of NGOs to promote Indian interests and criticize Pakistan internationally.
Of these NGOs, ten were associated with the UN Human Rights Council. Several NGOs were officially provided floor at the UN on behalf of the Human Rights Council. All these NGOs were tasked to lobby against Pakistan by highlighting fabricated incidents of human rights violations. This was done while sweeping the real happenings of human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir under the carpet.
Similarly, the Srivastava Group also concocted the news of the Members of the European Parliament’s (MEPs) trip to Kashmir. The Indian media presented this visit as the official EU delegation. However, in reality, the MEPs did not travel on behalf of the European Parliament.
The Srivastava Family also created the “EU Chronicle”, a fake media outlet with counterfeit journalists. The EU Chronicle primarily claimed to cover European affairs. It also invited MEPs in individual capacities to write about developing world trends. However, the personal views expressed by the MEPs were distorted by the Indian Media that presented the ideas as the official narrative of the entire EU. Simply put, Indian news coverage was putting words into the mouth of the EU for years.
Srivastava Group + Asian News International (ANI) = Global Anti-Pakistan Campaign
It is pertinent to mention that the Srivastava Group was already running reports of fake international media outlets and NGOs against Pakistan to sow seeds of hatred against the country when the Asian News International (ANI), the Indian press agency, joined in. The Srivastava Family created 550 fake online media outlets, from which ANI copy-pasted content.
The Indian Chronicles concluded by saying:
The 15-year long Srivastava Group led campaign aims to reinforce pro-Indian and anti-Pakistan feelings in India. Internationally, the campaign envisions improving the perception of India by receiving support from EU and UN organizations and by damaging the reputation of Pakistan.
