Indonesia lauds Pakistan’s efforts in curbing COVID-19 spread, calls it a ‘remarkable achievement’

Amri added that the two nations enjoy excellent 'diplomatic' relations that were established even before their independence.

The Ambassador of Indonesia Iwan S Amri has praised Pakistan’s strategy to deal with COVID-19 and its impacts on the economy, describing it as ‘very impressive’.

While speaking at Hop-A-Thon Ambassadors Congress organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPD) labeled as ‘Surviving Corona, Coming Out Stronger Together’, he said that it was ‘heartening’ to witness the decline in cases and fatalities.

Amri congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on this ‘remarkable achievement’.

Addressing the conference, he said that Indonesia and Pakistan faced similar issues in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and he suggested that the two countries could work together in overcoming these challenges.

Amri added that the two nations enjoy excellent ‘diplomatic’ relations that were established even before their independence. He also thanked Pakistani Authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and PIA for extending their support to the stranded Indonesian citizens in Pakistan.

“I must admire Pakistan for devising a dynamic, innovative, comprehensive, and successful strategy that included lockdown, consultation, coordination, and monitoring through NCOC and establishment of the Tiger Force”, he said. He also admired the launch of ‘economic stimulus package’, which saved lives and worked as a ‘shock absorber’ for the economy, helping the underprivileged part of the society.
