- An amount of 42.65 billion has been allocated for the program, said Chairperson Ehsaas Program.
The very first specialty of the program is that out of the total allocated amount which is 42.65billion rupees for the National Poverty Graduation Programme, only 5 billion has been taken from the national budget. All the remaining amount will be extracted from the existent government system, says Dr. Sania Nishtar.

She said that 16.2 million people will get benefit from the National Poverty Graduation Program and 80,000 people will be given interest-free loans every month. More than 390 cheque distribution ceremonies had already been conducted countrywide in which interest-free loans worth 3.02 billion were handed to the deserving people.

Other departments for poverty alleviation will work in collaboration with the Ministry for Poverty Alleviation
She also said that with the creation of the Ministry of Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Coordination, all other departments including Benazir Income Support Program, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Zakat, Poverty Alleviation Fund and Trust for Voluntary Organisations will work under the umbrella of the ministry to address the issue.
Ehsas is first of its kind
Dr. Sania Nishtar also said that the Ehsas would emerge as first of its kind not only in Pakistan but throughout the world as well. She also told the audience that the government will give a briefing on the Ehsaas Program by July 15.
She also asserted that the government will make sure transparency in the program and this would be different from the previous ones which were marred by rampant corruption and nepotism.
Had BISP reduced poverty?
Benazir Income Support Program was meant to provide paper currency to the poor people and this has nothing to do with the national poverty control figures. If this program of providing skill development and interest-free loans is implemented with the full vigor than one can hope for the better change to come.
Pakistan is the country that is grilled by poverty and low-income of the poor keeps them away from the facilities of daily life like healthcare and accommodation facilities. One thing that is provident for the said poverty alleviation program is the certainty that it is free from corruption.
Do you think that the government’s initiative for the provision of interest-free loans will help in the alleviation of grim poverty from Pakistan unlike that of BISP?
