The Spyware is developed by the Israeli NSO group that can be covertly installed on Android and IOS mobile phones. It was used to target smartphones of Politicians, Activists, and Journalists worldwide.

It operates by sending an exploit link to the target user through messages (SMS, Whatsapp, iMessage)which, if clicked, downloads malware onto the device without the user’s knowledge or authorization.

Pegasus can harvest the target user’s SMS, Whatsapp chat, Email, calendar, photos, videos contacts, etc. Countries that purchased the software are India, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, and Bahrain.

Sources have revealed that nearly 50,000 individuals from 50 countries were potential targets of NSO clients.
