Is Kevin Pietersen Returning Back to PSL?

Kevin Pietersen was one of the players who decided against visiting Pakistan in 2018 for the knock-out stages of the tournament.

The former English cricketer, Kevin Pietersen, had been an integral of the Quetta Gladiators team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

KP played quite a few crucial innings during his time as the Quetta Gladiators’ player and his experience on the field was an extra for the 2019 PSL winners. The 39-year-old, having retired from international cricket in 2018, might return to the PSL in a new role, next season.

This update was disclosed by the Gladiators’ owner, Nadeem Omer, during a live video session with journalists. Mr. Omer is hopeful that the recently held PSL has changed the perception of many international cricketers including KP about the security situation in Pakistan.

Kevin Pietersen was one of the players who decided against visiting Pakistan in 2018 for the knock-out stages of the tournament.

“I have been in ready touch with him and can tell you that he has a different perspective about Pakistan now. We already have Sir Vivian Richards as mentor and the presence of KP will only beef up our camp. We’ll open up a slot for him next season,” Nadeem Omer said.

The Gladiators’ owner didn’t seem happy with the way Umer Akmal’s case was handled by the PCB. He said that he was told of strong evidence against the batsman but it has turned out that it was just a simple case of not reporting the approach from the bookies.

“I think it was a bit harsh on Gladiators to be deprived of a key player on such a charge,” he added.

Nadeem Omer also extended his support to the Pakistan Cricket Board for mulling over making spot-fixing a criminal offense. Regarding Ahmed Shehzad’s reservation about his batting position, Mr. Omer said it was quite understandable but he felt Shehzad is good enough to perform at any batting number.
