Eleven people were killed in reported Israeli airstrikes near Damascus (دمشق) on Monday night, as per the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said the attack was directed from the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights (هضبة الجولان/مرتفعات الجولان) against some military sites, adding that the country’s air defenses shot down most of the missiles before they reached their targets.

The airstrikes left eleven Syrian regime soldiers, and a civilian dead several others wounded and caused material damage, SANA said.

Golan Heights is internationally recognised as the Syrian land, which was occupied by Israel illegally in the 1967 War. The US illegally recognized Golan Heights as Israeli territory in 2019.

Israel has occupied much of the Syrian Golan Heights since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War (النكسة).
