‘Inappropriate Collage’: Why are JUI-F workers upset with Samaa News?

Angry party members launched a trend #ShameSamaaNews on Twitter to call out the news channel for sharing an inappropriate collage of Maulana’s photo.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) recently announced that it would hold an anti-inflation match on the 23rd of March. The decision was made following the opposition alliance’s steering committee’s meeting on Monday. Sources state that the march will be held in Islamabad against the incumbent government’s failure to control inflation.

No Consensus on the Movement

It should be noted that the parties have an ongoing anti-government movement under which they intended to resign from their respective assemblies. While the opposition parties agreed to the power show on Pakistan Day in Islamabad, they failed to develop consensus on the option of en masse resignations from the assemblies.

Samaa News Exposed the Reality

Samaa News exposed the differences between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and PML-N regarding modalities of the proposed long march and the matter of the resignations in its 9 PM bulletin on Monday.

According to media channel reports, the JUI-F chief, Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, wanted the long march directly from Lahore to Islamabad. In contrast, N-League, especially the group led by President Shahbaz Sharif, supported launching a long march in the provinces before deciding on a ‘decisive’ long march.

Samaa News shared that Maulana Fazl ur Rehman even threatened to resign from the leadership of PDM, saying:

If you [opposition parties] are not serious about sending Imran’s government home, then there is no use of these meetings.

Samaa under fire for Exposing the Disagreements

While the media channel was on its toes to share the news with its audience, their Maulana Fazl ur Rehman story did not sit well with the (JUI-F) workers. Angry party members launched a trend #ShameSamaaNews on Twitter to call out the news channel for sharing an inappropriate collage of Maulana’s photo and demanded an apology.

Here’s how the Twitterati reacted:
