Kabul Attacks: Woman, who gave birth after 13 years of marriage, killed along with newborn
Shamila spent 13 years in extreme pain and mental stress after her marriage because she yearned for the time when Allah would bless her with children.
After struggling to get pregnant for 13 years, Shamila Bibi, 33, gave birth to a baby boy at a small hospital in the southwestern corner of Kabul.
On the morning of May the 12th, Shamaila Bibi left for her delivery at the Government Maternal and Child Health Center in Kabul, which is also supported by the non-governmental organization Madison Sans Frontières.
Yeluma Hafeezi, a friend of Bibi told The Independent Urdu that Shamila spent 13 years in extreme pain and mental stress after her marriage because she yearned for the time when Allah would bless her with children.
Hafeezi added, “Last week, Shamila told me that she was the happiest she had ever been in her whole life.”
Waited 13 Years
Shamila Bibi spent thirteen years trying to have a child, waited nine months to meet her son, and had just a few hours with him before he was killed.
Bibi and her family were thinking that she would return home safe and sound with her child, but during the attack on the hospital, Shamila’s body was burnt and her newborn baby was shot dead in the delivery room.
Yeluma told the source that Shamila was the only daughter of her parents and militants in Kabul had killed her only brother some time ago.
No organization has so far claimed responsibility for the massacre of 24 people, including 16 women and 2 newborns. At least six babies lost their mothers in an attack that has shaken the entire nation.
