Karachi: Police arrests two female members of a ‘fake marriage blackmailing gang’

The gang was successfully going around in circles claiming victim after victim until one stepped up to registered a case against the blackmailing women gang.

Two female members of a blackmailing gang in Karachi were arrested on Friday. According to reports, the gang was involved in blackmailing and looting citizens by recording their objectionable videos after luring them into fake marriages.

While talking to a media outlet, a police official said:

One of the two members arrested was the ringleader of the blackmailing female gang.

The Damage Done by the Gang

Reports state that the women had been successful in luring several citizens of Pakistan into court marriages before the police were involved in the matter. Police officials state that after marriage, the women would carry out the operations by secretly shooting obscene videos of the men and blackmail them for money using the video clips later.

The gang was successfully going around in circles claiming victim after victim until one stepped up to registered a case against the blackmailing women gang.

An investigation was then carried out by the Karachi police. Evidence presented by the victim was traced back to two female members of the gang, who were arrested yesterday. The police officials now continue the investigation to arrest the remaining members of the gang before presenting them in court.

A Male Blackmailing Gang also Existed

In similar news, a group of men was arrested in October last year for running a sham marriage network in Karachi’s Orangi Town. According to reports, the group was involved in tempting women into marriages only to swindle and dump them after some time.

The sham was brought to an end by the city police when they succeeded in arresting the prime suspect in the matter Nasir, who had allegedly defrauded many women in the name of marriage. The police received a tip that helped them carry out the arrest of Nasir.

Eventually, the whole gang was caught and presented before a local court in November. The court sentenced the men to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a preliminary hearing.
