Keitt, Sonaro, and Glenn: Three new sugar-free varieties of mangoes introduced in Pakistan

These sugar-free mangoes have ended the concerns for people with diabetes as most of the calories in the ‘King of Fruits’ come from sugar.

The new varieties of sugar-free mangoes came into existence after an expert scientifically modified the fruit at a private agriculture farm in Tando Allahyar, Sindh.

In the local markets, the types of sugar-free mangoes are available by the names of Keitt (4.75% sugar), Sonaro (5.6% sugar), and Glenn (6% sugar).

These sugar-free mangoes have ended the concerns for people with diabetes as most of the calories in the ‘King of Fruits’ come from sugar.

These new varieties of sugar-free mangoes have been introduced in the market by M. H. Panhwar Farms after five long years of research and scientific modification.

It is pertinent to note that the Government of Pakistan had conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz to the previous owner of the farm, Mr. Muhammad Hussain Panhwar, in his lifetime for his research on fruits such as mangoes and bananas.

After Mr. Panhwar’s death, the work on fruit modification has been continued by his nephew, Ghulam Sarwar.
