Khadija Stabbing Case: Lawyer proclaims Nighat Dad’s claim for media strategy in Khadija’s case as fraud
- Barrister Hassan Niazi calls the Nighat Dad’s claims for her role in Khadija stabbing case as a fraud.
- Nighat claimed that she advised the stabbing victim Khadija to spread the case over the internet.
- Nighat Dad did not attend even a single hearing of Khadeeja’s case, says Barrister Hassan.
- Barrister Hassan Niazi was alone responsible for media and social media, clarifies Khadija.
Barrister Hassan Niazi who was representing the Khadija stabbing case called the Nighat Dad’s claims for her role in bringing justice to the stabbing victim as a fraud.
Nighat Dad is an activist who currently runs the Digital Rights Foundation. Nighat claimed that she advised the stabbing victim Khadija to spread the case over the internet. Also, she’s representing Meesha Shafi in a harassment case that filed against Singer Ali Zafar.
The case revolves around Shah Hussain who stabbed his class fellow Khadija Siddique several times back in 2016 following the reversal of Lahore High Court’s orders for acquitting the culprit by the apex court of the country.
Nighat Dad’s claims
She said that the victim initially lost her case in a lower court because of influence of attacker’s father as his father was the president of Lahore Bar but later Khadija reached out to me (Nighat Dad) for taking advice on how to use the internet to spread the word about the case.
Besides this Dad went on to say that it was her who designed social media strategy in which Khadija started tagging people on social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook and got support not only from the political leaders but from the women’s groups as well.
Barrister Hassan Niazi responds to Nighat Dad’s claims
Hassan Niazi took to twitter and thrashed Nighat Dad’s claims saying that this is not even a lie but a fraud. “You didn’t do anything for Khadija. Her social media and media strategy was done by us. We launched her social media campaign on May 15, 2017. Where did Meesha Shafi come from? Stop misusing #MeToo for foreign funds. Change your lawyer Meesha,” added Khadija’s lawyer’s statement on Twitter.

“Nighat Dad did not attend even a single hearing of Khadeeja’s case. She misquoted Khadija. Now got the article deleted when questioned. She is misusing Meesha’s case to get more funds. If Meesha is keeping her after this. It means she doesn’t care if Nighat Dad is lying for Metoo,” said Hassan Niazi in another tweet.

Khadija’s response over the claims of media strategy for her case
Khadija said in a twitter response that she’s been misquoted completely and also requested CRF-WFP to clarify. “Barrister Hassan Niazi was alone responsible for media and social media. My legal team had Barrister Salman Safdar, Barrister Hassan, and several other lawyers. I disagree with the facts stated in the article,” Khadija added.

Nighat Dad in her later statement denied altogether taking the credit for the case and said: “No, when I wasn’t her team why would I have taken credit of her legal team. Although I did support @khadeeeej751 many a time in my personal capacity in many different ways while her case was pending.”
@khadeeeej751 it appears there is a misunderstanding. The interview was a longer conversation and like any interview, answers were condensed for length. Supported you all along in your fight, never took credit for your legal or SM team's work & continue to respect their efforts.
