Famous writer and director Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar has been in and out of the news these past few months, and all for the wrong reasons. This time he made headlines for criticizing the American blogger, Cynthia D. Ritchie, regarding her allegations against the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party.

In his latest tweet, the ‘Mere Pas tum ho’ writer criticized the American blogger, saying, “Stop this Me Too Drama Miss Cynthia D. Ritchie. If you were raped nine years ago, why is it being revealed now? Do you feel pregnant now?”

Khalil-ur-Rehman further went on to say, “I would be happy if the PTI’s social media team did not support Cynthia Ritchie. Such foreign elements should be dejected instantly.”

Rehman Malik Incident

Cynthia D. Ritchie accused the former interior minister, Senator Rehman Malik, of having raped her in Islamabad in 2011.

“In 2011, I was raped by the then interior minister Rehman Malik. That is right, I will say it again. The former interior minister Rehman Malik raped me,” she said in a live video on her Facebook page.

In her video, Ritchie alleged that she had endured harassment “primarily from the PPP” for several years. “I have received many rape threats and warnings against my life,” she alleged, adding that she has “evidence” of everything she has been sharing.

Ritchie also said she had notified the incident to “someone” at the US Embassy in 2011, “but due to ‘fluid’ circumstances and ‘complex’ relations between the US and Pakistan, [the] response was less than satisfactory.”
