A competitor for Civic? KIA gears up to bring another SUV to Pakistan [FEATURES]

Here's all we know so far!

Options in the compact SUV segment of the Pakistani auto market seem to be increasing exponentially in the last couple of years. While KIA Lucky Motors has undoubtedly established itself as the market leader in this segment after the launch of KIA Sportage in 2019. Time and again, new entrants have challenged the auto company with their SUVs.

According to sources, another new entrant is all set to take over the market. Experts believe that instead of the KIA Sportage, this time the new vehicle will compete with the Honda Civic, the Toyota Corolla, and the Hyundai Elantra.

Details of the New Entrant

The new vehicle will compete with SUVs other than the KIA Sportage because the new car is being offered by none other than the market leader – KIA Lucky Motors. According to details, the auto company has imported three units of the KIA Stonic from the Karachi port.

The KIA Stonic is a B-segment crossover SUV, which comes with four engine options:

  • 1,000cc Turbocharged;
  • 1200cc 4-Cylinder Naturally Aspirated;
  • 1400cc 4-Cylinder Naturally Aspirated;
  • 1600cc 4-Cylinder Diesel Engine.

Alongside the four engine options, the SUV also comes with four transmissions:

  • 5-Speed Manual;
  • 6-Speed Manual;
  • 6-Speed Automatic;
  • 7-Speed DCT.

Although the vehicle was launched internationally in 2017, its entrance into the Pakistani auto market will take place now.

Which KIA Stonic Variant Will Come to Pakistan?

The KIA Stonic is a B-segment crossover, meaning it is one of the smallest KIA SUVs in the category. Therefore, the company is planning to launch it against the Civic, the Corolla, and the Elantra. Furthermore, the SUV will also compete with the MG ZS, the Honda BR-V, and the upcoming DFSK Glory 500.

According to sources, experts don’t have a price estimate of the new entrant as of yet. However, they believe that the vehicle’s price will be compatible with the prices of the above-mentioned SUVs.

Competition is only rising in the SUV auto market of Pakistan. Car enthusiasts are excited for the new vehicle to come to Pakistan and directly compete against the sedan segment. According to experts, if KIA launches the KIA Stonic in the right price range, its success chances will be pretty high given the vehicle’s hype in the international market.
