Korea Nuclear and Hydro Power Co Will Build 496 MW Hydro-Power plant in KPK

According to the finance minister, this will be the first of its kind public-private partnership where the KPK government will be a 26% shareholder.

Korea Nuclear and Hydro Power Co will be building a 496 MW hydro-power plant in Kohistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, announced KPK’s minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Jhagra.

According to the finance minister, this will be the first of its kind public-private partnership where the KPK government will be a 26% shareholder. He further added that the company is also interested in exploring further opportunities in solar and wind energy.

“My colleague Sultan Khan and I were glad to hear that KHNP also sees this project as one of its flagship international investments, and that it is interested in exploring further opportunities in the country, not just in hydro but also across solar and wind energy,” Taimur Jhagra said.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Finance minister also vowed to make necessary changes to facilitate investment in the province when he returns from Korea.

Furthermore, Mr. Jhagra also said that the representatives of the Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co have hinted at an investment of $1 billion dollars in the province.
