In a bid to promote tourism, KP to launch helicopter service

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is planning to launch a helicopter service to promote tourism and make the beautiful sceneries more accessible.

The incumbent PTI-led government has shown its determination to encourage tourism and support tourist influx in the country. While religious tourism has been among the top priorities, the scenic beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas has been quite an attraction for travelers.

To promote it more, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is planning to launch a helicopter service to assist tourists and make the beautiful sceneries more accessible for them. Muhammad Atif Khan, Minister for Sports and Tourism informed it while speaking to media sources this week.

He said that they are in talks with the private companies to introduce the service in far-flung and more unreachable destinations in the province. Atif added that this initiative will not only make accessibility to these aerial scenes easy, it will also attract tourists from Lahore and Islamabad.

Special focus on attracting more tourists:

With supporting domestic tourism, it will also facilitate foreign tourists. Khan showed hope that the agreement in this regard will be signed soon.

‘’The service will initially be launched for Swat, Kalam and Chitral’’ – Atif said adding that it will be gradually expanded.

The senior minister said that the fourteen hours distance from Punjab to Chitral will be shrunk to only two hours. This is part of KP government’s extensive plan to support and encourage tourism in the province.

While the area has been plagued with an image of security risk due to terrorism, the international, particularly the social media influencers visited it and spoke about the tourism potential of Pakistan.

It should be mentioned that KP government has planned to allocate a total of Rs. 20 billion for tourism projects in fiscal budget 2019-20. This amount will be invested in tourism, sports, culture and youth affairs.
