Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 2-year Bachelor Degree Programs Abolished
Last year, the Punjab Education Department abolished the 2-year BA and B.Sc. program.
The Directorate of Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a notification that stated the 2-year programs of Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) have been terminated in the colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the notification, all new admissions shall be enrolled in the 4-year BS program.
After eliminating the 2-year program, the KPK government has ensured the introduction of the 4-year BS program in 128 colleges of the province.
The notification further hints that the Higher Education Commission aims to end the 2-year degree programs countrywide by 2020.
Last year, the Punjab Education Department abolished the 2-year BA and B.Sc. program. The programs were replaced and updated with a 2-year associate degree. This associate degree enables the students to swap specialized subjects and undergo practical training.
The KPK government is still deciding whether to adopt the new 2-year associate degree program or stick with the 4-year degree program.
