KPK Government to convert 5 small dams into picnic spots as tourism in the province flourishes
Initial work to transform five dams into picnic points for the masses has begun.
After the prolonged Coronavirus closure, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Government decided to open all the major tourist spots in August. In an announcement The Planning and Development Minister, Asad Umar said :
The government has decided to reopen dine-in restaurants, cafes, cinemas, parks, and gyms from the 10th of August after a nearly five-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As soon as the tourist sites started welcoming sightseers again, throngs of people flocked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). According to figures released by KPK’s Tourism Department, from the 13th of August till today, 2,681,000 tourists have visited KPK. Although many have returned, more than 762,000 vacationers are currently residing in various districts of the province.
The highest number of visitors was recorded in Abbottabad; 1,718,000 tourists visited the area. On the other hand, 664,000 visitors traveled to Swat to devour its beauty.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Government played its part in maintaining the tourist sites and tourist numbers. In August, authorities decided to transform the small dams into picnic points to attract more sightseers to the zone.
Initial work to transform five dams into picnic points for the masses has begun. The small dams being converted into picnic points are Kundar Dam in Swabi, Jalozai Dam Nowshera, Thand Dam Kohat, Chattri Dam Haripur, and Jhangra Dam Abbottabad.
