KPK Government Set To Establish Pakistan’s Very First Digital City

The new government has verbalized their priorities and have shown strong determination in expanding Pakistan’s technological base and create opportunities for the people to engage in the process.

Actualizing the vision, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is ready to establish country’s first ever Digital City. The site decided for the Smart City is located at Haripur, behind the significant and iconic Margalla Hills.

With being one of the most picturesque locations that the country has, it is also at close proximity with the Capital Territory Islamabad and to the newly built International Airport Islamabad.

With being strategically located at an ideal location interconnecting itself to the capital, the Digital City will provide competitive and developed and on lease basis to diversify the business and technological firms.

A Digital City is an urban centre that leverages the power of IT to promote the welfare of the general public, elevate the quality of life, enhancing the economic development and manage and make use of natural resources in a more efficient and sustainable manner.

Smart Cities are crucial to a country’s development on modern parameters. They help in better city planning and development while assuring faster E-government services delivery to citizens at a comparatively faster and efficient manner. It will assure improved productivity and service delivery at a low operating cost.

The data published by the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), the digital city technology will generate revenues of over $27.5 billion by the year 2023. In addition to this, 88 cities worldwide are expected to adopted smart city technology by the year 2025.

The develop the Digital City complying with the industry’s requirements, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) is working to collect feedback and requirements from all potential investors.
