Laal kabootar becomes Pakistan’s first formal entry to the Oscars

A highly applauded and critically acclaimed film “Laal Kabootar” is Pakistan’s formal entrance to the desiderated Oscars 2019.

Kamal Khan directs Laal Kabootar, which is recently receiving rave reviews from the critics. Moreover,the film is also getting a good response from the audiences, who are all praise about the films.

The makers made the announcement regarding the films official entry for the Oscars in a social media post, which says:

“Something for us all to be proud of as a team. All the sweat and hard work were worth it.”

Two times Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid chaired a committee who selected the film for Oscar.

Although, the film will be submitted in the ‘International Feature Film Award’ category for the 92nd Academy Awards.

Nominees for all the award categories including International feature Film will choose by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and sciences in December 2019. However, Oscar committee will announce the final list of nominees on 13 January 2020.

Cast and Crew

“We are thrilled to have gotten this far with our debut film and are extremely excited to have been selected,” producer Kamil told the media source. He further says, “We are more than happy that we came this far with our debut film and excited for our selection in Oscars.”

Kamal is hopeful that through the film, People will get to see what Pakistani cinema has to offer. In addition,the film features Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha in lead roles.

Film overview

The film is stocked with action-loaded sequences, story of locals of Karachi. Furthermore, Kamal Khan is a director of the film and Harvard graduates Hania Chima and Kamil Chima are the producers.
