Lahore Qalandars introduce scholarship in the name of Shaheen Afridi’s father
Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars have introduced cricket scholarship in the name of its captain Shaheen Afridi’s father.
The PSL 7 winning captain was grateful to his franchise for announcing the scholarship in his father’s name. The left arm pacer was speaking to media after Qalandars announced selected players from their recent players development program’s trials.
“I am really thankful to Qalandars’ management for introducing cricket scholarship. This will help budding cricketers a lot in polishing their skills and coming to a higher level,” he said.
Shaheen Afridi also lauded Lahore Qalandars for being on the frontline to unearth new talent. He hoped that the players selected during the trials will make their mark.
It is pertinent to mention that a total of 22 players have been selected during the trials. 19 players have already been named while the other three players will go further assessment.
A total of five out of the 22 players will get a scholarship in the name of Mohammad Ayyaz Khan Afridi (father of Shaheen Shah Afridi). The five players will train at the Qalandars’ High Performance Centre for one year.
