According to media reports, Lahore’s famous restaurant Butt Karahi has been sealed over violation of Covid-19 SOPs. Sources state that on Sunday, a team of the city administration led by Assistant Commissioner City Faizan Ahmed raided the eatery for allowing indoor dining beyond the time limit.

Fake Dead Meat News

Earlier, it was reported that the administration had sealed Butt Karahi for serving dead animals’ meat (animals that were dead for some time, not freshly slaughtered). According to details, the administration had uncovered dead animals’ meat and hair in the storage of the eatery during an inspection.

However, later the Deputy Commissioner Lahore took to Twitter to clarify the real reason behind the sealing. Putting the false media claims to bed, he said:

Clarification: AC city sealed Butt Karahi due to Covid SOP violation, not because of serving dead animals.

Throwback to when Butt Karahi was sealed earlier

This isn’t the first time the famous restaurant has been sealed. Nine months ago, Butt Karahi was closed by the provincial government for the same reason – not complying with Covid-19 SOPs.

The incident took place on the 11th of December 2020 at Butt Karahi’s Lakshmi Chowk food street branch. The restaurant had allowed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz and other leaders to dine-in during a city-wide restriction on indoor dining.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif took to Twitter to share a video of the delicious karahi, saying:

The Karahi was amazing.

The pictures and videos of Maryam Nawaz enjoying in-door dining soon went viral on social media and inevitably drew the ire of the PTI. Following this, the provincial government sealed the restaurant.
