How to identify Ehsaas Programme scam?

The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme was launched in April 2020, under the government’s social protection initiative, Ehsaas. The program aims to help vulnerable families who are facing financial hardships in the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Dr. Sania Nishtar is a crucial figure for the Rs. 203 billion Ehsaas Programme. She is leading the program’s implementation across the country by distributing a stipend of Rs. 12,000 to millions of families.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Safety and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar took to Twitter on Sunday to save people from falling prey to the Ehsaas Programme scam.

In a tweet, Dr. Sania educated people about fake messages and said:

All official messages from the Ehsaas Programme are sent via the number 8171, and any other numbers sending similar messages are a scam.

A Twitter user tweeted a picture of a text message that said that a grant of Rs. 33,500 has been approved, and that the given cell phone number should be reached to claim it.

Dr. Nishtar replied to the tweet and said:

This message you have received is absolutely fake. Anyone receiving such messages should complain via SMS on 03351058050 and 03351058051.

Do not trust fake Ehsaas Programme messages.
