Markets To Be Set Up Along Iran, Afghanistan Border To Curb Cross-Border Smuggling

The Balochistan government is mulling over plans to set up markets along the borders of Afghanistan and Iran in an effort to bring an end to cross-border smuggling.

The Chief Minister of Baluchistan Jam Kamal Khan, while chairing a meeting on implementation of development schemes, directed the concerned authorities to come up with a comprehensive plan in this regard.

He also said that steps should be taken for theallotment of land for border markets.

The Chief Minister was hopeful that the border markets would spur a positive change in the economic and financial sectors of Balochistan.

The plan to set up border markets had come under consideration during a meeting of the Pak-Iran Joint Border Trade Commission held in Zahidan in October this year.

Jam Kamal Khan further directed to complete the audit of various development schemes at the earliest. He also called for bringing proficiency in all departments for achieving better results of government schemes.
