Martyrs’ families barred President Arif Alvi from attending funerals over hateful social media campaign: Report
President Arif Alvi was reportedly barred by the families of the officials martyred in the helicopter crash from attending their funeral prayers over hateful social media campaign by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters.
This was claimed by senior journalist Ansar Abbasi in a YouTube video. Earlier, another senior journalist Saleem Safi made a similar claim.
In a tweet, he wrote that President Alvi wanted to attend the funerals of the martyred officials. However, due to the social media campaign from certain supporters of Imran Khan, he didn’t get the green signal.

Now, Ansar Abbasi has confirmed the claim made by Saleem Safi. The senior journalist said that sources have also claimed that President Alvi was stopped by the families from attending the funerals over the hateful social media campaign.
A few days ago, a Pakistan Army helicopter lost contact with air traffic control while it was en route from Quetta to Karachi. Later, ISPR confirmed that all six officials onboard, including Lt Gen Sarfraz Ali, embraced shahadat.
