Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios’ president hints introduction of a Muslim superhero Ms Marvel. In an interview to BBC, Kevin said that Ms. Marvel can be expected after Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) makes her debut.
The Ms. Marvel version Feige referred to in the interview is a teenage Muslim superhero Kamala Khan, who was introduced back in 2013. Larson’s character Carol Danvers was referred to as Ms Marvel in the comics. After Danvers dons the title of Captain Marvel, Khan started going by as Ms. Marvel. In the comics, Ms Marvel’s alter ego is Kamala Khan, a Muslim Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey. Playing an inhuman with shapeshifting abilities, Kamala becomes Ms Marvel when her idol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel.
Regarding the introduction of the new character, Kevin said that it will be done following the revelation of Captain Marvel’s character in front of rest of the world.
Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books — the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel — definitely sorts of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel to the world.” – he said (Source: Business Insider)

With being the first Muslim superhero that in itself is quite ground-breaking, the rumours also have that the role will be played by none other than versatile and sensational Priyanka Chopra.
Priyanka has a history with the character as well as she voiced Kamala Khan in a Marvel mobile video game.

Addition of a Muslim superhero will also diversify the range of characters MCU has. Recently, ‘Black Panther’ was lauded by the followers as well as being a superhero movie with majority cast being black. Following that, Captain Marvel will be the first MCU movie being solely and entirely focused on a female superhero!
