Voicing national stance, running charity – Mehwish Hayat is getting Pakistan’s narrative heard

Mehwish Hayat will also be running a marathon to help rebuild 5 schools in Sukkur.

  • Mehwish Hayat slammed Priyanka Chopra for war-mongering.
  • Mehwish said that the celebrities have a big influence and hence a big responsibility.
  • “Celebrities who act as charity spokespeople should always focus on humanitarianism”, Hayat said.

After meeting an intense criticism for being awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Mehwish Hayat finally shows to the world why she is worthy of it in all aspects! From taking Pakistan’s narrative on the international stage to working with the global charities for the country’s welfare, Hayat has really made her presence felt in these days.

After being awarded the ‘Pride of Performance’ award by Norway’s Prime Minister, Erna Solberg in Oslo, Hayat’s winning speech made rounds on social media.

“They have built an image of my country that I certainly don’t recognize. These films, combined with others have fuelled the rise of Islamophobia,” Mehwish said, commenting on purposeful negative profiling of Muslims in Indian films.

“Our neighbors (India) have one of the largest film industries in the world and in a time where they could’ve used the power they yield to bring us together, what do they do? They make countless films showing Pakistanis as villains” – she continued.

Writing to CNN, Miss Hayat called out Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra for her hypocrisy. She wrote that while she is the ‘goodwill’ ambassador to the UN, she has an extra responsibility levied on her. But she is involved in war-mongering.

Mehwish also called out Priyanka for her hypocrisy in a blog she wrote for CNN. “Chopra’s response to her questioner in LA (I hear you……. but I am patriotic) as well as the February tweet, did have the effect of both shining a light on the crisis in Kashmir (despite India’s media blackout and food blockade there), and forcing many of us to think about celebrity activism, its uses — and its abuses,” she wrote.

Mehwish Hayat will also be running London Marathon for UK charity:

Mehwish Hayat is also been appointed as ambassador to UK based international humanitarian charity, Penny Appeal. Hayat she is now an ambassador of the charity and plans on rebuilding five schools in Sukkur, Sindh for more than 900 children, inspired by similar projects in Africa.

”So one of the reasons I am in the UK is to announce that I am joining global charity Penny Appeal as an Ambassador. I will be raising funds to rebuild 5 schools in Sukkur, Sindh. Please join me in this quest,” Hayat wrote.
