Mayor Brampton shares the video of ‘reckless’ driver who claimed the lives of a mother and 3 daughters
The van proceeded to collide into a light pole and its riders received severe injuries.
A mother along with her three daughters fell victim to a fatal car accident on Thursday 18 June around noon. The incident took place on an intersection near Countryside Drive and Torbram Road.
A fast vehicle crashed into another car, as informed by a witness of the scene. The vehicle was also being followed by a police car, possibly for speeding.
Monica Hudon, the spokesperson for the Special Investigations Unit gave an account of the crash to reporters. According to her, the speeding vehicle was being followed by a Peel Regional police officer when it rammed into a van driving up Torbram Road at the intersection.
The van proceeded to collide into a light pole and its riders received severe injuries. The oldest of the three daughters, who was 6, succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene. The mother along with her middle daughter was admitted to the Brampton Civic Hospital, where they subsequently died. The youngest one died after being moved to the Hospital for Sick Children.
The 20-year-old man driving the speeding vehicle, namely an Infiniti, was also gravely injured. He is currently at the hospital he was taken to following the crash.
Hudon confirmed that apart from two other vehicles that were involved in the crash, no other damages had been inflicted.
Community members & police tried to stop the driver. He was having none of it. He belongs behind bars for taking 4 innocent lives. This was his driving prior to the accident. @PeelPolice & residents did their best. This was a brazen repeat offender with no regard for human life pic.twitter.com/gYo0B4h1pI

The SUI has undertaken the task of investigating the causes of the incident. For this, it has assigned four investigators, three forensic investigators, and a collision reconstruction investigator.
Akhil Mokeen, the officer on the pursuit of the Infiniti, has stated that a separate investigation will be carried by the Peel Regional Police’s major collision bureau. He ensured that all factors will be taken into account to come to a fruitful conclusion.
