Medical City To Be Built In Balochistan as Coronavirus Cases in the province reach 110
Two more cases of coronavirus have been reported in Balochistan, taking the total number of infected patients to 110 in the province.
Balochistan Chief Secretary Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar reported that the number of coronavirus cases in Balochistan has reached 110. He said that the procurement of more medical equipment was on the way to help deal with the crisis at hand.
Asghar said 50 acres of land have been arranged on Sariab Road where a medical city will be set up in three months. Its capacity will be 1,000 persons and the facility will be operational in an emergency situation.
“The proposed medical city will initially have the capacity to accommodate at least 1,000 people”, he said while talking to the media.
Asghar added that 5,000 more rooms will be constructed in the same medical city in the near future.
Two more cases of coronavirus have been reported in Balochistan, taking the total number of infected patients to 110 in the province. One death has been reported in the province so far.
Medical supplies and medicines would be bought to deal with the situation. Asghar said that 600 containers from Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) are yet to arrive in Taftan.
“With the new equipment, 1,000 patients will be handled for a period of two to three months”, he said.
The secretary informed that Sheikh Zayed Hospital is fully reserved to deal with coronavirus patients, while wards and isolation units have been established in other hospitals.
The Balochistan government has decided to buy laboratory equipment which will allow testing of 1,000 people daily.
“If the virus spreads in Quetta, a survey will be conducted in the city to know which area is affected the most”, he said.
The secretary paid tribute to the doctors and paramedical staff and asked the government to pay them their salaries during this period.
