Crackdown against medicine mafia: Four more medical stores sealed for selling fake medicines

An FIR against the medical stores is in the process of being registered.

After sealing chains of medical stores, four more outlets have been sealed in Islamabad on Sunday by the officials and ICT (Islamabad Capital Territory) administration. The four stores are located in different parts of Islamabad.

An FIR against the medical stores is in the process of being registered. Ayesha Wani, Additional Collector Customs Islamabad, told that the FIR would be registered after examining the food supplements in a laboratory.

She stated that the officials sealed four outlets of a chain in I-8, Blue Area, F-10 and F-11 on Sunday.

“We have asked the owner to provide us proof about permit of the imported goods within a day otherwise it would be seized” – she stated.

This campaign won’t be restricted to these areas only, it’ll expand to other markets and shops too.
Zahid Bakhtawari, All Pakistan Chemist Association Chairman, revealed while talking to Dawn News that the customs team examined chemist shops without any specific reason and asked for the permit of imported perfumes and cosmetics.

He said that mainly the shops were retailers, and bought imported goods from distributors. He further stated that the customs officials raided numerous shops on Sunday which were against the law, adding that the imported cosmetics were purchased properly and ‘we had proof of buying them from distributors’.
