Naseem Akhtar from Gujrat spent 32 years of her life making a hand embroidered Quran, which she claims to be the first ever in the world.
Speaking to a local news channel, Naseem said that she has completed the Quran that has been sewn twice, making it the only one of its kind in the entire world. She further claimed that she did it all by herself without any help. She started in her youth and completed it in her old age. Naseem says that this is her independent hard work and proof of her dedication.
She wanted to sew a Quran since a very young age but due to being caught in some unavoidable circumstances, she couldn’t start it until she was married. She started working on it in 1987 and completed it in 2018.
She said that after her marriage, she finally got the cloth delivered from Faisalabad, 12 piles of it. The width of this cloth was 45 inches and 900 inches in length.
‘’I then shrink and cut it, it took me a lot of time to cut it and make it. Then, I arranged it in order’’
It was not an easy job, as Naseem says it. Sometimes, it took her an entire day to sew one line as she had to be extra cautious of not committing a mistake. She had a dream of submitting her work to Guinness Book of World Records and get this represented in Madina on behalf of Pakistan.
Her wish was indeed recently fulfilled and she got the honour of presenting her handsewn Quran in Madina. She was delighted to see her long effort getting recognition and appreciation that she long waited for.
