In a shocking incident of when protectors became predators, a 15 years old girl was allegedly raped by a Rescue 1122 official at Nankana Sahib, this Sunday.
According to FIR (First Information Report) filed by the family of the victim at Nankana Sahib police station, the girl who was also mentally challenged went missing. The vulnerable and helpless family looked everywhere to find her, but no traces were found.
As the FIR read, during their search for the girl, the family noticed a Rescue 1122 ambulance parked at the roadside for a prolonged period of time.
Appearing suspicious to them due to being long-parked at a specific spot, the girl’s family went on to investigate the ambulance. They found out two Rescue 1122 workers, later identified as Shamim Haider and Ahsan Ali, were assaulting the girl.
”When we raised hue and cry, the driver sped away from the ambulance and threw the girl outside van near a sugar mill” – the family reported in the FIR.
The police registered the case and arrested both the suspects. Commenting on the incident, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari said in a tweet that the abuse of vulnerable citizens will not be tolerated. She also told that she has been informed by the SHO about the arrests of the alleged culprits in the horrifying incident.
According to the reports, the Rescue 1122 office in Lahore has denied the allegations and have said that the girl wasn’t subjected to rape or assault.
