MG to launch and locally assemble these vehicles in Pakistan
See details here!
MG has been gearing up to begin the local assembly of its vehicles in Pakistan.
Speaking to a source, a senior MG official revealed the company’s future plans. He said that MG’s assembly plant has almost been completed, and it will commence its operations in the 2nd half of 2022.
He highlighted that once local assembly starts, MG will launch these new vehicles:
MG HS 1.5T and 2.0T AWD
The first automobiles to go on sale will be locally built MG HS 1.5T and 2.0T All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) variants. The 1.5T has already been on sale, while the 2.0T AWD has periodically been displayed at various dealerships.
The vehicle’s appearance and features are mostly the same as the current 1.5T variant, implying a well-equipped and applicable crossover SUV with more power. It is safe to presume that the HS 1.d5 T’s price will be reduced due to its being locally assembled.
MG has also been planning to launch a more effective variant of its subcompact SUV dubbed the ZST. The auto firm will offer it as a locally assembled SUV, just like its bigger peers.
It has a turbocharged 1.3 liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 161 hp and 230 Nm of torque which it transmits to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
MG is likely to position the ZST as a competition to the Peugeot 2008, with a bigger price tag.
It is safe to say that the vehicle is among Pakistan’s most popular incoming cars based on teasers alone. Its display in major cities across the country gathered huge crowds and interest from potential buyers.
The GT has a posh interior and materials, a sporty and sleek exterior, and ample safety and comfort. However, its price will dictate its popularity among the masses.
“A Seven-Seater SUV”
Although the official only said that it would launch “a seven-seater SUV” next, it will likely be the RX8.
It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 224 hp and 360 Nm of torque, which it transmits to the front wheels or all four wheels (depending on the variant) through a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
It also has smart safety and amenities such as six airbags, ABS Brakes, hill-start assists, descent control, ESC, cruise control, and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
MG has been planning to to launch the Extender.
It is a midsize sports utility pickup truck that has multiple powertrain alternatives. The most common is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine with 161 hp and 375 Nm of torque. .
Like other MGs, the Extender also features ADAS technology, driver and passenger airbags. However, likely, MG Extender will also warrant a hefty price tag.
